Who We Are
In 1931 local electrician Roy Edwards was retrenched from his job on the railways and, after borrowing five pounds from his aunt, hopped on his bicycle and began seeking electrical work door to door throughout the Ipswich region.
Under the stewardship of the Edwards family, and with the same commitment to personalized customer service excellence, RT Edwards has grown into a $100+ Million turnover company, with its head office still based in the city of Ipswich.
Employing over 350 staff, RT Edwards is the largest single member of the national Buying Group, and has expanded the company interests into the areas of Furniture, Floor Coverings, Bedding and Second Hand as members of the Furniture Court, Carpet Court, and Beds R Us Buying Groups.
Staying true to the company's family origins, Tom Edwards's four children all work for the company.
Tom's eldest son, Gary, has joined his father as co-Managing Director; youngest son Paul works as a mechanic, ensuring the company's fleet of vehicles are maintained; daughter Suzanne works in the service division, liaising with customers to ensure their complete satisfaction; and youngest daughter Anne-Maree is employed as RT Edwards' Development Manager, with a keen eye for future growth and expansion opportunities.
